This is the First Annual March Is Awesome event! The amount to which I love my very own month of March is absurd; my birthday, my brother’s birthday, many of my friends’ birthdays, the beginning of spring, and much, much more! Will you join me in my celebration of March? Alright!
In The Before Times: On this day in 1965, Martin Luther King, Jr. successfully led and finished a four day, 50-mile civil rights march from Selma to the capitol in Montgomery, Alabama. That man was just amazing.
Celebrity Birthdays: Today, we celebrate the birthdays of Elton John, Kari Matchett, and Lee Pace. Elton John has a special place in my heart for being the composer of my favourite Disney movie: The Lion King. Holy crap, you guys, you have no idea how many times I’ve listened to the soundtrack to that movie and broadway musical. Must’ve been at least ten times a day. Honestly. (And yes, I realize he’s done a ton of other things, but it’s my blog, isn’t it?) Matchett currently plays the CIA director, Joan Campbell on the amazing Covert Affairs. She’s a strong female role model, and since those seem to be in short supply these days, she’s to be revered. And finally Lee Pace is just one gorgeous actor who needs to be back on my TV screen immediately. I loved him in Pushing Daisies, and wow, the movie The Fall is just cinematically gorgeous, isn’t it?
What’s happening today?: For those who live in/were born in Maryland, you guys better be celebrating Maryland Day! Maryland was founded on this day in 1634 when settlers first arrived there from Europe! And for all you Tolkien nerds out there, today is Tolkien Reading Day! I could never get through a volume myself, but I’m sure you guys could read through The Hobbit today, right?

DVDs and Movies: Today Sucker Punch comes out, and I’m totally seriously when I say, “Holy crap, I want to see that.” I don’t think Zach Synder’s a film god or anything, I just totally want to see it. Okay. I’ll stop drooling. Also out today is Diary of a Wimpy Kid 2: Rodrick Rules. I saw the first one because 1) I felt like it, and 2) my cousins read the books. It was cute. I’d see this one too, but on rental.
As usual, if you know of any other exciting things happening today, feel free to leave them in the comments! Thanks for playing!
