Inspiration of the Day

Since I basically troll through websites and look at other people’s designs, I thought it’d be cool to post some designs and art I really like, and put credit where credit is due. Today’s inspirations are from Behance because I was looking for job postings and got sidetracked.

I still have yet to put anything on my Behance profile because I’m so intimidated by what I see. Anyway! Those are my picks for today! Go and check them out, they’re fabulous!

I love me some pumpkin carvings!

For the past four years, I’ve lived in a dorm, and didn’t really get the chance to carve any pumpkins. Then, I graduated, moved back home, and was shocked to learn that, for the past four years, my family hasn’t bought pumpkins, or any other Halloween decorations.

So I swore that this year, at least, we would have a baby pumpkin outside. But some personal family matters came up, life got in the way, and, today, three days before Halloween, there’s still no pumpkin on our porch, much less anything else. I’m not sure if I can still find one, but I’m sure going to try.

Jack Skellington carving

Fortunately America has not forgotten the holiday, and there have been some spectacular pumpkins out there. If I do get a pumpkin I’m going to download a template from Zombie Pumpkins and have at it. My favourites so far are Sam’s Jack O’Lantern and The Guy (middle).

There are also really great ones on Pumpkin Gutter, including R2D2 and C3PO, Buzz Lightyear, and the Pumpkin Viper. I also really loved the Lego Man:

Scott Cummings (the owner of Pumpkin Gutter) also has this really cool video on YouTube:

And last but not least, thanks to @thinkgeek, here are four links to incredible, geeky pumpkins! Can You Name Them All?, Adipose!, 1 Up Mushroom in Progress and Realistic looking Joker. Being a giant (new series) Doctor Who fan, I am in love with the cute Adipose one, and the Joker one definitely freaks me out. It looks like it could be a great mask/helmet, if you don’t mind the pumpkin smell, ha!
