New phone

Wheeeee! New phone and I added WordPress on here. I gotta say, loving Android so far, can’t wait to see what else I can do with it!

I had a Blackberry before and while I loved it for the first year and a half, the last nine months have been absolute torture. Now I’m not saying that I didn’t have anything to do with that, I may have dropped the phone on more than one occasion, but I couldn’t wait to get a new phone. I guess the Storm 1 was just too buggy for me to handle.

I finally decided on the Droid 2 because I wanted a physical keyboard and I’m just loving it. I also love Swype, it’s really useful.

I think I like the Android OS more than the iPhone/iTouch OS because its more customizeable and more fun to play with.

Anyway, that’s my two cents on the matter! As with all my phones I gave it a girl name. Since it’s a Droid, I related it to a robot, so I was thinking of my favorite girl robots, and settled on Caprica Six from Battlestar Galactica. Yeah, I’m geeky, woohoo! I love my phone, Caprica, it’s amazing!

From Iron Man to Mr. Peanut

If there’s one thing you need to know about me, it’s that I am a Robert Downey Jr. fan. To me, after his amazing comeback, so far, the man has done no wrong.

Iron Man, if nothing else, was a smash, blockbuster hit and though there were doubts about him being Tony Stark, all those doubts were evaporated after the movie came out. And Iron Man 2? An even better movie in the eyes of comic book fans, and while there were those who found the plot confusing and the characters too much, it doesn’t change the fact that Robert Downey Jr. was amazing in it.

Sherlock Holmes (2009)
And Sherlock Holmes? I’ll be straight with you, I was doubter of RDJ as Sherlock Holmes, but after I watched the movie, I wanted – no, needed – to watch it again. It was that great. The movie quickly became one of my favourites; I have it on DVD, and am still wanting the BluRay version.

“But Carmen,” you think to yourself, “why in the world are you blogging about this now?” Well, my dear readers, Robert Downey Jr. is now the official voice of Mr. Peanut, the mascot for Planters. Watch these amusing ads:

Simply. Wonderful. I never thought that a peanut could be sexy, but having RDJ voicing Mr. Peanut sure comes close.

And no, my love for RDJ doesn’t stop there. I loved him in Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, The Soloist, Tropic Thunder, Charlie Bartlett, A Scanner Darkly, and Wonder Boys. And thanks to Netflix, I’m going to watch Fur: An Imaginary Portrait of Diane Arbus tonight. Yes siree bob, I am.

Just added a “hire me” form to my site

Using – WHAT – PHP! Now, I will openly admit that I stole the script from W3 Schools because I’m all about giving credit where credit is due, and not pretending I know stuff when I clearly don’t, but hot-diggity, this is fascinating and I want to learn more!

The link is here, and it’s pretty much just an email form that’s not done, but I tested it and it emails me, and I don’t have to do this CGI stuff, which confuses the crap out of me, and that’s basically all I care about. YAY!

My Halloween costume

Sunday was an amazing night. It was my first night back after four years of going to school at Hofstra, and while I truly miss and love all my friends back east, being back this Halloween was really great. I loved the little trick-or-treaters who came by for candy, and I loved seeing my friends in costume. Here’s what I looked like on that day:

Me as Medusa - scary!

Me as Medusa - smiling

Yes, my friends, I was Medusa. It was the first time I had actually dressed up in ages, but it was super fun, and ever since a couple of my friends got into cosplaying, I’ve wanted to dress up as something, anything! Anyway, the green was pain to do for a beginner like me, but it was an easy learning curve! Super fun, I hope inspiration hits me next year, as well!

In other news, I’m working on a menu for a fake restaurants. It’s really fun!

Thanks for reading!
