Makeup Monday: Ipsy August 2014 Bag

Over the past couple of years, I went from “sometimes putting eyeliner and lipstick on” to learning how to take care of your skin and how to do that with makeup. I just wanted to share the love for all things beauty and skin-care related. Let me know what you think!

I’ve decided to publicly share my experiences with my old subscription boxes in case anyone was still interested! I loved a lot of these samples and wanted to share my experiences with the brands even though the subscription month is well over. I will be sharing my Ipsy August 2014 bag today!

The Bag

Honestly, I’m not a huge fan of the bag. I do like that the plastic material that it’s made of seems to be easily washable, and I love the pattern (orange polka dots!) but I’m not entirely fond of the material for a makeup bag. That being said, I do use it when traveling and I have something that I’m afraid will burst.

The Samples

Ipsy August 2014 - Klorane Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk
Ipsy August 2014 – Klorane Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk

Klorane Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk – Right before I received this, I got a Birchbox with the same dry shampoo. However, I loved this dry shampoo. It had a really nice, not too strong scent. This brand was technically my first ever dry shampoo, and it was a good experience; basically spray into your hair when you didn’t have time to shower or if you feel like your hair is gross, and then brush it out after a few minutes. Gives your hair a nice refresh! I used this up pretty quickly.

Ipsy August 2014 - Manna Kadar Cosmetics Sheer Glo
Ipsy August 2014 – Manna Kadar Cosmetics Sheer Glo

Manna Kadar Cosmetics Sheer Glo – I was honestly really confused on how to wear this, but I read up on tips on the Ipsy website, and I ended up using it as a moisturizer or mixing it into my BB/CC cream. I really liked mixing it; I felt like just using it as a moisturizer, you couldn’t really see the glow it was supposed to give. Although mixing it did dilute the BB/CC cream (of course) and I needed to use more for extra coverage. I also used this up pretty quickly!

Ipsy August 2014 - Jersey Shore Sun Mongongo Lip Conditioner
Ipsy August 2014 – Jersey Shore Sun Mongongo Lip Conditioner

Jersey Shore Sun Mongongo Lip Conditioner – I really like the flavor/scent I got, which is Mongongo Orange. I did feel like it was really smooth, but might give too much product on one swipe? My lips felt too moisturized, if that makes any sense. I still have this, and I leave it at work for when my lips feel dry! My only problem with this one is I like lip moisturizers that heal my lips because they chap easily, and I don’t really feel that these have a healing quality. Not sure if they’re supposed to though. Just my two cents!

Ipsy August 2014 - Urban Decay 24/7 Velvet Glide-On Eye Pencil

Urban Decay 24/7 Velvet Glide-On Eye Pencil – I was so happy when I saw this in my Ipsy bag. I love Urban Decay and had been wanting to try this eyeliner for so long! My only issue of course, was I couldn’t really wear it a lot because it is purple. However, I do have this and I love it a lot!

Ipsy August 2014 - Coastal Scents Shadow Palette Sample
Ipsy August 2014 – Coastal Scents Shadow Palette Sample

Coastal Scents Shadow Palette Sample – The set I got kinda matched the Urban Decay eyeliner; I got set 23, and the colors were Persian Pink, Baby Pink, Pink Silver, and Icelandic. I honestly only wore Pink Silver, and I only wore it a couple times. I feel pink are hard to wear for me, so I was pretty disappointed. Maybe one day I’ll wear it!

That’s all for this bag; let me know what you think! In the future, if I still have all the samples, I may film a video instead. Let me know if that’s something you would like!
